Role Overview

Join Deloitte as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer working within the Cyber Operations team based in Canberra. You will be a key technical expert enhancing endpoint security and advancing the Essential Eight maturity across Deloitte's enterprise. Your responsibilities include hands-on control implementation, tooling enhancements, and addressing emerging AI-related risks within a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve endpoint security on server and workstation platforms, focusing on ASD Essential Eight compliance, secure configuration baselines, application control, and device hardening.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, end-user computing, and identity teams to design and execute control enhancements that bolster Deloitte’s security posture.
  • Support incident response efforts, elevate threat detection capabilities, and contribute to decisions on network segmentation, policy enforcement, and risk mitigation.
  • Automate repetitive security tasks through scripting, API integration, and orchestration tools to streamline detection, response, vulnerability management, reporting, and system administration.
  • Develop and maintain security documentation, standards, and runbooks while engaging with emerging areas such as AI security including data leakage, API use, and AI platform risks.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Expertise in endpoint hardening, secure baseline configurations, and device or application control mechanisms.
  • Hands-on experience managing endpoint security controls for Windows and macOS servers and workstations.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks like ASD Essential Eight, ISO 27001, and NIST standards.
  • Practical knowledge of Windows environments involving Intune, endpoint configuration, and identity/access management.
  • Experience working within cloud and infrastructure domains including AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Conditional Access policies, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and application whitelisting technologies.
  • Background in supporting incident response, enhancing threat detection, and executing security improvements.
  • Capability to identify and automate manual tasks enhancing security efficiency through scripting and orchestration workflows.
  • Interest and enthusiasm for AI and new technologies applied to cyber security operations.
  • Strong skills in engaging stakeholders with a practical and solution-driven approach to technology and risk.
  • Relevant technical or cybersecurity certifications are considered advantageous.
