Senior Buyer

Job Overview

The Senior Buyer role involves developing and completing complex spot material Purchase Orders (POs) from received Purchase Requisitions (PRs), strictly following the Table of Financial Authority (TOFA) standards. The incumbent will track the POs through to the final material Goods Receipt (GR) to meet precise end user material availability requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute spot material purchases that fulfill department KPIs and support corporate strategic goals.
• Manage a PO database, monitor progress until successful material receipt, and accelerate vendor deliveries when necessary to ensure timely availability for end users.
• Prepare and deliver reports to management on material delivery status, actions taken to address delays, and suggest improvements to prevent future issues, ensuring objectives are met.
• Participate in reviewing and optimizing the PR to PO to GR procurement process to enhance buying efficiency and service quality for material availability.
• Ensure adherence to purchasing policies including RFQ guidelines and TOFA requirements; analyze effectiveness and suggest improvements to remove bottlenecks and elevate service standards and customer satisfaction.

Additional Duties

• Analyze historical demand, expenditure, and purchasing patterns to inform and refine spot buying strategies.
• Coordinate internally and externally with expediting teams, vendors, packers, and freight forwarders to maintain consistent on-time material deliveries aligned with demand.
• Track supplier performance and collaborate with Market Intelligence on commodity trends to develop optimal supplier negotiation tactics that balance cost efficiency and material quality.
• Support peer reviews, audits, and other process control evaluations related to Material Spot Buys to uphold strong control environments and address any gaps found.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a commercial discipline.

Experience

• Minimum of seven years of hands-on purchasing or procurement experience within the oil and gas sector.
