Senior Boarding Supervisor

Overview

The Glennie School is seeking dedicated Senior Boarding Supervisors to join its boarding community from Term 4, 2026. These full-time, term-time positions involve taking a leadership role in supporting and guiding boarders, primarily girls from Years 5 to 12, many of whom come from regional, remote, and overseas areas. The goal is to foster a positive, safe, and well-connected residential environment where students thrive.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all boarders while upholding the boarding community's family-oriented values.
• Develop and maintain respectful, positive relationships with students and their families.
• Promote a boarding culture focused on wellbeing, belonging, personal development, and respectful interactions.
• Deliver pastoral care, responding suitably and calmly to issues involving student welfare and behaviour.
• Encourage and support student participation across academic studies, extracurricular activities, and broader school life.
• Set clear expectations and uphold consistent routines and boundaries within the boarding house.
• Ensure adherence to boarding house rules, procedures, and safeguarding policies at a high standard.
• Safely transport students to various activities when necessary.
• Act as a positive role model demonstrating appropriate behaviour, values, and attitudes at all times.

Candidate Profile

• You may come with experience in boarding, youth work, education support, coaching, residential care, or related fields.
• Ability to handle the dynamic energy of teenagers positively and effectively.
• Skilled at forming sincere connections with youth while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Adopt a composed, steady, and relationship-focused method of support.
• Manage student-related issues thoughtfully, exercising sound judgment and professionalism.
• Remain calm and pragmatic when situations change or difficulties arise.
• Communicate clearly and confidently with students, families, and team members.
• Organised, dependable, cooperative, and able to collaborate within a team environment.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

• Relevant experience interacting with young people in education, boarding, youth services, residential care, sports programs, or similar.
• Possession of a current open driver's license to transport students as needed.
• Hold or be eligible to obtain a Positive Notice Blue Card compliant with Queensland child safety laws.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to acquire them.
• Availability to work evenings and about four to five weekends during each term.

Employment involves 38 hours weekly across shifts scheduled each term, including evening work and multiple weekends.
