Senior Backend Engineer, AI Platform

About the Role

This fully remote position requires candidates to be located within the EMEA region for seamless collaboration with internal teams and customers. Hostaway, a leading AI-driven vacation rental management platform serving over 20,000 property managers globally, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for its AI team. The company is a profitable, high-growth unicorn specializing in short-term rental Property Management Systems.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop backend services that embed AI capabilities into user-facing features.
• Build scalable, high-performance APIs that integrate AI outputs with SaaS products.
• Work jointly with product and design teams to craft user-friendly AI-powered experiences.
• Collaborate closely with platform and integration teams to incorporate AI into existing system workflows.
• Establish robust monitoring, observability, and error management for AI services in production environments.
• Enhance and maintain the AI integration infrastructure including Python SDKs, MCP servers, and large language model orchestration tools.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in backend engineering, preferably within SaaS environments.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and SaaS integrations.
• Familiarity with AI and LLM tools such as LangChain, Vercel AI SDK, and MCP servers.
• Comfortable working with Python-based AI services and bridging different technical stacks.
• Additional experience in PHP and Golang is advantageous.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to integrate efforts across product and platform teams.
