Job description
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior API Platform Engineer who possesses advanced experience with API gateway platforms, API lifecycle management, robust security measures, and cloud-native technologies. The candidate should demonstrate practical expertise in working with Apigee, Apache APISIX, and WSO2 platforms, combined with strong platform administration and troubleshooting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, configure, and manage API Gateway platforms such as Apigee, APISIX, and WSO2.
- Oversee the full API lifecycle including design, deployment, version control, monitoring, and decommissioning.
- Identify and resolve issues related to API gateways, connectivity, performance, and integration.
- Implement and administer API security frameworks including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, certificates, and related authentication and authorization protocols.
- Manage SSL/TLS certificates, keystores, truststores, along with certificate renewal processes.
- Deploy and operate API gateway components within Linux and Kubernetes ecosystems.
- Integrate APIs into CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment workflows.
- Track API metrics such as performance, uptime, traffic, errors, and security via monitoring and observability tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, DevOps, security, and infrastructure to maintain secure and dependable API services.
- Define and uphold best practices concerning API governance, security, performance, and support.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 7 years' experience in API management, platform engineering, or integration.
- Proficient hands-on experience with Apigee, Apache APISIX, and/or WSO2 platforms.
- Deep knowledge of API Gateway deployment, administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Comprehensive understanding of API lifecycle and governance principles.
- Expertise in OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, SSL/TLS protocols, and certificate handling.
- Experience using Linux and Kubernetes environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps methodologies.
- Ability to monitor and analyze API logs, performance, and security metrics.
- Solid grasp of REST API conventions, HTTP protocols, and security best practices.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Background with containerization and orchestration tools.
- Knowledge of API monitoring and observability platforms.
- API Management, Cloud, Kubernetes, or DevOps certifications are advantageous.
