About the Role

Based in Wellington, this permanent full-time position offers 4.4 weeks of annual leave and a wellness allowance after 12 months of employment, with a midpoint salary of $108,452 depending on experience. Joining the Medsafe Compliance Branch, you will engage in a dynamic regulatory environment that safeguards the health of New Zealanders by managing complex therapeutic product issues and influencing consequential decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead intricate investigations into regulatory complaints and product quality concerns, making critical decisions to ensure public safety.
  • Provide authoritative guidance on therapeutic products and compliance matters to diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage high-impact tasks such as Official Information Act requests, ministerial correspondence, and briefing documents, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and quality.
  • Promote performance enhancement and continuous improvement across critical programs, systems, and processes.
  • Offer leadership, mentorship, and foster collaboration to enhance capability and develop strong relationships within the Ministry and the broader health sector.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant academic qualification in pharmacy or a scientific field, coupled with a solid foundation in medicines.
  • Strong knowledge or willingness to develop expertise in therapeutic product regulation and quality assurance systems.
  • Exceptional analytical and judgement skills capable of navigating complexity and delivering clear, practical advice.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex information effectively to varied audiences.
  • Highly organized, with a focus on relationship building and a proven record of delivering quality work in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to manage pressure, prioritize tasks based on risk, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
