Self Checkout Attendant

Role Overview

Joining Walmart Canada as a Self-Checkout Attendant offers a valuable opportunity to gain retail experience while delivering excellent customer service. This role focuses on assisting shoppers utilizing self-service checkout stations, ensuring smooth transaction processes and a positive shopping environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the self-checkout area, ensuring it is free from clutter, foreign materials, and spills.
• Guide customers on how to properly and efficiently use self-checkout services when necessary.
• Promote company-sponsored programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives when appropriate.
• Monitor customers to identify when assistance or intervention is required.
• Politely explain the need for self-service interventions and quality checks, reassuring customers that these are standard procedures.
• Be knowledgeable about responding to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms and accurately document incidents of "Failure to Deactivate."
• Notify the Customer Service Manager if there are cash shortages or technical problems in the self-service area.
• Return Scan & Go scanners to their designated storage location after use.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this position is $16.90.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
