Company Overview and Position
JS Marine Services Private Limited is seeking a Security Manager specializing in mooring operations at Kamarajar Port, Chennai. This role is vital to overseeing the safety and security of personnel, vessels, equipment, and operational zones adhering to port and internal protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all security activities tied to mooring operations within the port area.
- Manage and regulate the movement of personnel, vehicles, contractors, and visitors in the operational mooring zone.
- Collaborate with mooring teams, port officials, vessel crew, and security agencies to ensure seamless operations.
- Secure restricted mooring areas by implementing strict access controls.
- Assign and supervise security staff based on operational demands.
- Perform regular security inspections across mooring sites, equipment, entry points, and the surrounding vicinity.
- Ensure compliance with port security regulations, company procedures, SOPs, and safety standards.
- Detect and report suspicious activities, threats, unauthorized access, and unsafe behavior.
- Coordinate with port security, CISF, and authorized security bodies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records including security logs, visitor registries, incident reports, and daily security summaries.
- Conduct security training and awareness sessions for security personnel and mooring team members.
- Communicate quickly and escalate security incidents, emergencies, or irregular situations effectively.
- Support emergency responses and evacuations during security threats, fires, accidents, or extreme weather conditions.
- Ensure proper utilization of communication tools and security equipment.
- Investigate security incidents, preparing reports with recommendations for corrective measures.
- Maintain discipline and alertness among security personnel deployed on-site.
- Work with management on manpower planning, security infrastructure, and improvement initiatives.
Qualification and Skills
- B.Tech or B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Preferred 2 to 5 years’ experience within marine, port, shipyard, industrial, or mechanical sectors with exposure to security and operations.
- Strong knowledge of port and marine security, access control, surveillance, emergency response, and incident management.
- Leadership abilities for managing and directing security personnel.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Capability to function effectively under pressure and in outdoor port environments.
- Awareness of occupational health, safety, and security compliance.
- Willingness to work in shifts including weekends and holidays as required.
- Basic proficiency with MS Office and experience in security reporting is advantageous.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience in port, marine, shipyard, offshore, heavy engineering, or industrial operations is desirable.
- Preference for candidates with site security, port security, marine operational, and manpower supervisory experience.
- Physically fit to operate in marine and port conditions.
Compensation
The monthly remuneration ranges between ₹28,000 and ₹30,000 depending on experience and suitability.
