Role Overview
We seek a Sales Development Representative to contribute to building our outbound sales engine. Collaborating closely with Account Executives and the founder, you will target CFOs, Controllers, Tax leaders, and senior finance executives to generate new business opportunities. This position offers hands-on experience in the full sales process and is structured as a growth path into an Account Executive role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage targeted account lists in core markets.
- Initiate outreach to senior finance stakeholders including CFOs and Heads of Tax.
- Conduct research to understand potential clients’ business models and global operations.
- Create a pipeline using phone, email, LinkedIn, events, and innovative outbound approaches.
- Partner with Account Executives on account strategies, messaging, and multi-threaded outreach.
- Qualify business problems beyond simply scheduling meetings.
- Gain exposure to discovery, product demos, deal strategies, negotiations, and closing processes.
- Take increasing responsibility for opportunities as skills develop.
- Continuously test and refine messaging, targeting, and pipeline generation techniques.
- Contribute to shaping the outbound playbook for future Sales Development Representatives.
Candidate Requirements
- Aspirations to build a career in B2B sales with the goal of owning a sales quota.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence initiating conversations with senior professionals.
- Competitive spirit, curiosity, and dedication to continuous practice.
- Ability to learn swiftly and proactively seek feedback.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous environments with non-obvious solutions.
- Strong ownership mentality instead of waiting for instructions.
- Availability and enthusiasm for working onsite in the San Francisco office full-time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Sales Development Representative is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Background in outbound sales or prospecting roles.
- Experience working at early-stage startups.
- Exposure to Finance, Accounting, or Tax departments in a sales or collaborative capacity.
- Proven track record of exceptional performance in competitive environments such as sales, sports, academics, or entrepreneurship.
Candidate Profile
- Highly driven individuals who have overcome challenges and possess a relentless work ethic.
- Comfortable thriving in early-stage, high-ambiguity settings and able to independently define problems and solutions.
- Self-reliant owners who manage projects end-to-end in a small, empowered team.
- Balance the need for speed and precision in a complex, mission-critical product environment.
- Value in-person teamwork and collaboration as a necessity for effective work.
Non-ideal Fit
- Those seeking structured guidance or who find ambiguity discouraging.
- Candidates prioritizing people management over hands-on problem solving.
- Individuals content with delivering imperfect work where errors have significant consequences.
- Those who view mandatory onsite presence as a drawback rather than an asset.
