Restricted Commodities Compliance Lead

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and enhance compliance for Dangerous Goods and Restricted Commodities across designated provinces, ensuring adherence to aviation regulations and company standards.
• Act as the Principal Subject Matter Expert for the safe transport of regulated shipments, offering guidance to management, operations teams, and stakeholders.
• Support and advise all operational and regulatory parties on regulations including ICAO Technical Instructions, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and GACAR Part 109.
• Develop and administer Dangerous Goods training, conduct competency evaluations, and maintain certification records for employees within the region.
• Oversee audits, incident management, and regulatory reporting including Restricted Commodities Incident Reports and Dangerous Goods Occurrence Reports.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections, lead internal self-assessments, and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
• Evaluate customer compliance and provide recommendations pertaining to Dangerous Goods account approvals.
• Monitor compliance indicators to identify and mitigate risks through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Foster productive relationships with regulatory bodies, customers, and internal teams to uphold compliance and safety culture.
• Ensure readiness for audits and adherence to safety, security, and compliance requirements.
• Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the direct manager.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
• Holds a valid IATA Competency-Based Training certification (Function 7.3).
• Certified IATA Dangerous Goods Instructor or capability to achieve this certification.
• At least five years of progressive experience in Dangerous Goods operations and compliance.
• Comprehensive expertise in ICAO Technical Instructions, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and GACAR Part 109.
• Strong knowledge of aviation regulatory frameworks, compliance management, and risk-based decision processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is advantageous.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel at an intermediate level and presentation tools.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational aptitude, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
• Self-driven with the capacity to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
• Proven ability to build and sustain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining regulatory compliance.
• Must have completed a minimum of 18 months in the current role or have prior authorization from the line manager to apply.
