Restricted Commodities Compliance Lead

About the Role

As the Restricted Commodities Compliance Lead, you will take charge of overseeing and enforcing compliance related to Dangerous Goods and Restricted Commodities across assigned provinces. You will provide strategic leadership, regulatory adherence, operational backing, and drive continuous improvement to meet aviation and company standards. This role acts as the provincial authority for compliance, fostering a safety-first culture, promoting operational excellence, administering training and certification initiatives, managing regulatory interactions, and ensuring thorough risk governance across gateways, service points, and client operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the expert on Dangerous Goods and Restricted Commodities, advising safe transport of regulated cargo.
• Support and guide management, operations, and coordinators on regulations, including ICAO, IATA, GACAR Part 109, and DHL policies.
• Guarantee adherence to global operating procedures and statutory guidelines.
• Develop, conduct, and sustain Dangerous Goods training programs, assess competencies, manage certifications, and support staff capability growth.
• Act as primary contact for DG compliance across operational, customer, and regulatory segments.
• Lead audit activities, manage incidents reports such as RCIR and DGOR, and fulfill regulatory reporting duties.
• Conduct self-assessments and audits, coordinate inspections, and drive corrective/preventive actions.
• Evaluate customer compliance and make recommendations regarding DG account approvals.
• Track compliance metrics, identify risks and trends, and implement improvement actions to bolster safety and regulatory conformance.
• Maintain strong working relationships with authorities, customers, and internal teams.
• Ensure continuous audit preparedness and safety compliance adherence.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
• Hold valid IATA Competency-Based Training certification (Function 7.3).
• Certified IATA Dangerous Goods Instructor or willing to achieve certification.
• Have at least 5 years of advancing experience in Dangerous Goods operations and compliance.
• Possess in-depth understanding of ICAO, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and GACAR Part 109.
• Strong grasp of aviation regulations, compliance management, and risk-based decision-making.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially intermediate Excel and presentation capabilities.
• Fluent English required; Arabic language skills advantageous.
• Highly attentive to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management aptitude.
• Work effectively independently and collaboratively in teams.
• Proactive and self-driven, comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with various stakeholders while upholding compliance standards.
• Must have completed a minimum of 18 months in current role or have authorization from line manager to apply.
