Job Overview
The College of Design and Engineering at the National University of Singapore is seeking a Research Associate to contribute to an interdisciplinary project focused on mitigating urban heat island effects through greenery-based interventions. This initiative, supported by NParks, aims to analyze cooling influences of urban vegetation and develop modeling tools to optimize these benefits across Singapore.
Primary Duties
- Perform numerical simulations spanning various scales and physics, including thermal environment, airflow dynamics, and urban greenery impacts at city, district, and neighborhood levels.
- Disseminate research outcomes by publishing in leading academic journals and presenting at both local and international conferences.
- Coordinate and support technical workshops, networking sessions, and conferences domestically and internationally.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Dynamics, Atmospheric Sciences, Urban Climate, Architectural Engineering, Building Science, or related disciplines with a focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- A minimum of five years' relevant professional experience.
- Strong expertise in urban climate modeling.
- Proficiency in environmental simulation software such as UrbanMicroclimateFoam, OpenFOAM, WRF, PALM4U, or equivalent tools.
- Self-driven with the ability to operate independently and manage time effectively.
