Reliability Centered Maintenance Engineer

KBR is seeking a Reliability Engineer to lead and manage the Total Reliability Program Framework for refinery assets throughout their lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop frameworks and methodologies for criticality assessment and reliability enhancement programs targeting refinery assets.
• Lead and execute Asset Criticality Analysis for refinery equipment.
• Gather and analyze data critical for assessment, facilitate criticality workshops, compile findings into structured reports, and organize data for uploading into SAP with supporting documentation.
• Drive the adoption and implementation of reliability methodologies across various asset types to maintain operational excellence.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for reliability culture development in projects and operational facilities, ensuring asset reliability throughout their lifecycle.
• Manage Asset Lifecycle Management procedures, including criticality ranking, SAP taxonomy, operating limits, maintenance development procedures, master data handling in SAP, Bill of Materials management, and active SAP-PM deployment and assessment.
• Initiate and perform studies aimed at improving facilities and operational assets, provide specialized technical consultancy on complex engineering challenges, and coordinate with cross-plant teams.
• Adapt lessons learned from benchmarking and safety incidents to recommend improvements that sustain safety-critical equipment health within the Total Reliability program, mitigating potential risks related to major hazard changes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to analyze asset integrity and performance, suggest methods for preventing chronic failures, and support KPI reviews for the Total Reliability program.
• Report project progress regularly to the Project Manager, leading the Reliability section in delivering scheduled outcomes and updates.
• Work closely with project execution teams to ensure thorough understanding and commitment to the Reliability Transformation Program, a critical element for project success.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with strong technical proficiency.
• Experience in site reliability engineering with solid knowledge of refinery processes is essential.
• Proficient in root cause failure analysis methods, such as Apollo Root Cause Analysis by Reality Charting, with the ability to facilitate RCA and ACA processes.
• Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) is advantageous.
• A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industries, including working knowledge of static and rotating equipment, instrumentation, and electrical systems along with their failure modes and corrective solutions.
• Experience with operations, maintenance, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and hand-over activities is a plus.
• Deep understanding of reliability KPIs related to plant operations, with capability to drive and support these metrics.
• Experienced in administering Asset Lifecycle Management tasks—covering criticality ranking, SAP taxonomy, operating limits, maintenance development, master data in SAP, Bill of Materials, and SAP-PM implementation and evaluation.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Industry knowledge specific to oil and gas.
• Experience applying Asset Lifecycle Management practices.
• Proven ability in implementing predictive maintenance programs to enhance asset availability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.
• Competent in balancing multiple priorities in a diverse and high-pressure environment.
• Skilled in data analytics and technical report writing.
• Attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Additional Information

This position reports to the Project Manager and requires on-site presence in Jubail, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The role is integral to maintaining and advancing the reliability of refinery assets within KBR’s project framework.
