Job description
Position Overview
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CHBE) at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) is seeking candidates for a full-time regular or visiting faculty role, available at the assistant, associate, or full professor level starting Fall 2027. The department invites applicants who hold a PhD in Chemical or Biological Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Candidate Profile
Strong candidates will have demonstrated a substantial teaching record and a strong commitment to excellence in both education and research. Preference will be given to individuals specializing in Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Biotechnology. Experience with the American higher education model and its academic standards will be regarded favorably.
Department and Academic Environment
The CHBE department is populated by 12 full-time faculty, 3 laboratory instructors, and serves approximately 200 undergraduate and 15 graduate students. The student and faculty body represents a rich diversity, encompassing around 90 nationalities. The department offers multiple degree programs including a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering, and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering.
University Details
Located in Sharjah Emirate approximately 15 kilometers from Dubai, AUS is an independent, coeducational, not-for-profit university with an enrollment exceeding 5,700 students. It holds accreditation through the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Affairs Division in the UAE and is recognized by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the USA since 2004. The Chemical Engineering program is specifically accredited by ABET’s Engineering Accreditation Commission.
