About the Role
We are seeking candidates to join our permanent team primarily based at Kapooka as a Range Operator, supporting Defence base and estate operations under a newly awarded contract for NSW/ACT and QLD regions. This position occasionally requires travel to neighboring bases to assist with range activities and first fire responses, with transportation provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Range Supervisor with routine maintenance and operation of range facilities.
- Ensure site security and adherence to range standing orders and safety protocols.
- Perform groundskeeping duties, including lawn care, gardening, trimming, and storm cleanup.
- Carry out inspections and upkeep of training areas and ranges to maintain compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Participate in first fire response activities.
- Contribute to reporting and performance documentation related to Training Area and Range services.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience or knowledge in facilities maintenance, minor repairs, or caretaker duties.
- Interest and skills in grounds maintenance activities.
- Range Induction Course certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Medium Rigid (MR) Truck Licence is desirable.
- Possession of a current Open Driver's Licence is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance; Australian citizenship is mandatory.
- Completion of Public Safety Training Package units relevant to the role will be required.
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to achieving high-quality results.
