About Aqarios

Aqarios is dedicated to bridging the gap between quantum computing research and solving practical, complex problems that companies encounter across various industries. Our team, with origins from LMU Munich's QAR-Lab, combines academic expertise with the practical focus on delivering reliable software solutions to customers. We develop Luna, our flagship quantum optimization platform, and also create tailored solutions for enterprise clients. We aim to revolutionize how difficult problems are addressed with quantum technology.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop gate-based quantum circuits for optimization problems, primarily working with QAOA and its variants, including mixers that preserve constraints.
  • Lead the entire circuit compilation process including transpilation, qubit routing, and error mitigation techniques.
  • Independently research, prioritize, and decide on new developments and features to enhance our quantum software solutions.
  • Integrate and deploy your quantum circuit implementations within Luna to be utilized by our customers.
  • Contribute to academic knowledge by publishing research outcomes related to your work.

Qualifications

  • Proven practical experience in constructing gate-based quantum circuits beyond basic examples, from industrial or research environments.
  • Expertise in at least one area among circuit compilation, error mitigation, or quantum optimization algorithms; eagerness to expand knowledge into the other areas.
  • Beneficial knowledge of quantum error correction and insight into future directions of the field.
  • Ability to work autonomously and solve open problems effectively without daily supervision.
  • Proficient with quantum computing frameworks such as Qiskit, PennyLane, or similar SDKs, writing clean, maintainable code.
  • Strong Python programming skills paired with sound software engineering practices including modular code design, testing, version control (Git), code reviews, and continuous integration; experience in C++ or Rust is advantageous.
  • PhD in physics, computer science, or mathematics is a plus, as are scientific publications and practical experience on quantum processing units (QPUs).
  • Comfortable asking questions when uncertain and receptive to constructive feedback.
  • Preferably located in or near Munich or elsewhere in Germany for remote work.
