About the Role
TÜV SÜD is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor with a background in civil engineering to join their team in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. Candidates should possess relevant experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation, billing, and cost management related to civil construction or infrastructure projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with at least 3 years of pertinent field experience, or
- Diploma in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and confirm quantity take-offs, measurements, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) according to project drawings and specifications.
- Perform site measurements and verify the quantities of work completed.
- Develop and review running account (RA) bills, contractor invoices, and measurement documentation.
- Monitor and control project quantities, costs, and changes in comparison to approved BOQs and contracts.
- Assist with cost estimation, rate analysis, and setting budget requirements.
- Analyze drawings and specifications to detect changes in quantities or scope.
- Collaborate with civil engineers, project managers, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders on measurements and billing matters.
- Document and track variations, extra work, and deviations effectively.
- Verify material usage and reconcile differences when necessary.
- Maintain meticulous records of measurements, quantities, billing, and cost-related paperwork.
- Provide commercial and contractual support in relation to quantities and measurements to project teams.
- Generate periodic quantity and cost reports for management evaluations.
- Ensure all quantity surveying tasks comply with project requirements, standards, and specifications.
Essential Skills
- Thorough expertise in quantity surveying techniques, cost estimation, measurement, and billing processes.
- Sound understanding of civil construction and infrastructure works.
- Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings, BOQs, specifications, and contractual documents accurately.
- Knowledge of rate analysis, quantity take-off, and effective cost control methods.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and relevant quantity surveying or estimation software.
- Strong numerical aptitude and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
- High attention to detail and precision in work.
- Willingness to work onsite at project and site locations as required.
Preferred Experience
Candidates who have previously worked on Railway Infrastructure, Highways, Roads, Bridges, Industrial projects, or other large-scale civil infrastructure endeavors will be given preference.
