We are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Cork, Ireland. This permanent position offers a competitive salary of €70,000 dependent on experience, complemented by private healthcare and pension benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage client payment processes through to final account and project change account, aiming to maximize income and maintain healthy cash flow while achieving target margins.
• Oversee sub-contract accounts throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accurate liability reporting and contract-compliant payments.
• Interpret contract conditions to enhance the project team's understanding of all parties' rights and obligations.
• Maintain detailed and timely records related to progress, delays, and change controls using project systems, contributing to event registers and entitlement documentation.
• Collect elemental cost and measurement data to support precise project financial assessments.
• Participate in monthly reviews and work package management, identifying cost-saving opportunities to improve project delivery.
• Provide commercial advice to managers and project teams aligned with the company’s commercial management strategy.
• Build and sustain positive relationships with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to foster collaboration and project success.
• Evaluate and enhance commercial processes to align with Alstom’s continual improvement initiatives and best practices.
• Adhere to all relevant environmental, health, and safety responsibilities, including active participation in safety briefings and incident reporting.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience in a contracting commercial department is highly preferable.
• Ability to provide guidance on quantification, costing of construction works, and elemental cost analysis.
• Familiarity with industry-standard construction contracts and commercial terms.
• Understanding of construction planning and use of scheduling tools to manage works.
• Capability to interpret contract documents to accurately define scope of work.
• Experience with tendering and pre-contract cost analysis.
• Hands-on experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including managing compensation events, early warnings, and change control processes in an active project context.
• Knowledge of risk identification, risk registers, and risk management practices.
• Awareness of conflict avoidance, resolution procedures, and dispute management.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially within project teams.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Desirable Attributes and Qualifications

• Experience with Target Cost or Design and Construct contract types.
• Understanding of accounting principles.
• Appreciation of health, safety, and sustainability considerations related to the construction industry.
• Graduate or Affiliate member of a Quantity Surveying institution, actively progressing towards professional qualifications with maintained professional development records.
