Role Overview
At WorldQuant, research underpins the firm's mission. Quantitative researchers engage in thorough investigations and expansive thinking to leverage data in financial markets, continuously searching for novel predictive signals. These researchers develop and implement quantitative models based on mathematical expressions derived from data inputs to forecast financial market movements globally.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
- Conduct rigorous research to discover new predictive signals in financial data.
- Create and utilize computer models that forecast movements in global financial markets.
- Work independently and collaboratively, applying creativity and perseverance to solve complex challenges.
- Maintain a strong interest in and motivation to learn about finance and global markets.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor's (Honours), Master's, or PhD in a highly quantitative or analytical discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Financial Engineering, preferentially from a top-tier university with excellent academic achievements.
- Exhibit a research scientist mindset characterized by creativity, deep thinking, self-starting initiative, perseverance, and intellectual curiosity.
- Demonstrate solid knowledge in Linear Algebra, Statistics, and Machine Learning techniques.
- Programming proficiency in Python and Unix environments.
- Strong command of English.
- Prior experience in finance or trading is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Show relentless drive and a strong work ethic to succeed in challenging environments.
