Role Overview

The Quality Lead for High Security will serve as both a technical and people leader within our High Security Squad’s Product Development. This role focuses on elevating software quality by enhancing quality standards and embedding best practices throughout the software planning, design, delivery, and operational phases. You will lead a skilled team of test analysts striving to deliver the highest quality products for Government and Critical Infrastructure clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, enact, and continuously enhance quality protocols, testing methodologies, and workflow processes for agile development teams.
  • Integrate quality considerations early into the product lifecycle from planning through to delivery, facilitating rapid feedback to identify risks and defects sooner.
  • Advocate for test automation, implement CI/CD processes, and utilize tooling and monitoring to minimize reliance on late-stage defect detection and enable sustainable change.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Project, and Support teams to eliminate quality bottlenecks, advise on release preparedness, and optimize delivery outcomes.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the quality team, promoting wellbeing, performance, and professional growth.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned quality engineering leader with extensive expertise in software testing, combined with a strong commitment to coaching and process improvement. You should have comprehensive hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing, including functional and non-functional domains such as performance and security testing. Balancing technical leadership with effective people management, you will demonstrate excellent judgment, communication skills, and adaptability to navigate complex and evolving environments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Over 10 years of relevant industry experience in quality engineering or software testing within agile frameworks.
  • Solid background in designing and implementing manual and automated test strategies supporting the full software development lifecycle.
  • Experience in functional and non-functional testing areas including performance, security, reliability, and ensuring release readiness.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in mentoring and developing quality professionals, with attention to team wellbeing and career advancement.
  • Excellent judgment, problem-solving aptitude, decision-making skills, and ability to effectively communicate quality risks.

Security Clearance

Applicants must be eligible for and obtain at least a Confidential level security clearance. Eligibility requires New Zealand permanent residency and continuous residence in New Zealand or another Five Eyes country (NZ, USA, UK, Canada, Australia) for the previous five years.
