Position Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and committed Quality Assurance Inspector to join our Hawassa team. This role is pivotal in upholding and improving the quality standards of our leaf products, packed products, and non-tobacco materials throughout the processing stages, ensuring product integrity and customer satisfaction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor non-tobacco materials (such as C-48 and C-96 cartons, kraft papers, and PE materials) to verify they meet specifications before packaging.
• Inspect processing equipment areas—including conveyors, motors, screening shakers, and pressing zones—to detect contamination and maintain product quality.
• Assess leaf quality to confirm it is free from mold, contamination by non-tobacco related materials, and oil before processing.
• Perform daily equipment performance verification to avoid measurement inconsistencies.
• Organize cleaning, maintenance, and repair of quality equipment as needed.
• Lead the annual calibration of quality equipment prior to each crop-year processing cycle.
• Collect and test product samples following sampling protocols to ensure consistency throughout production.
• Decide on acceptance, refeeding, or rejection of products based on inspection data and communicate results to operators for ongoing quality control.
• Analyze inspection data to drive improvements in production processes.
• Prepare samples per internal and global guidelines, coordinate timely shipment to various JTI locations, and maintain accurate shipment records.
• Carry out additional assignments as delegated by management.

Qualifications and Skills

• A university degree in Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering.
• At least two years of experience in manufacturing, particularly in quality control or assurance roles.
• Attention to detail with a strong ability to identify subtle quality deviations.
• Knowledge of quality control procedures, inspection tools, and measurement techniques.
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills with a systematic approach.
• Effective communicator capable of working independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
