Purchasing Manager

About the Role

Seraj Steel Industries is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee and enhance the company's procurement processes as it expands. Located in Al Kharj Industrial City, Riyadh, this role focuses on procurement within structural steel fabrication and related heavy manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire purchasing flow from requisition through purchase order issuance, delivery, and supplier coordination.
• Procure materials including steel plates, structural sections, pipes, bolts, welding consumables, paints, industrial supplies, spare parts, and other production-related items.
• Establish and nurture a robust network of both local and international vendors.
• Solicit and assess price quotations considering cost, specifications, quality, availability, payment conditions, and delivery schedules.
• Negotiate assertively to secure optimal purchase value, balancing cost and quality.
• Guarantee all procured materials meet defined grades, project specifications, and industry standards.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, Warehouse, Quality, and Finance departments to align purchasing with operational priorities.
• Monitor material needs to prevent production delays due to supply shortages.
• Track purchase orders diligently and follow up with suppliers to avoid late deliveries.
• Develop backup supplier options for critical materials to mitigate risks.
• Keep abreast of steel and raw material market prices to capitalize on advantageous procurement opportunities.
• Evaluate vendor performance based on cost, quality, timeliness, responsiveness, and reliability.
• Maintain detailed purchasing records and ensure all procurement activities are accurately managed within the ERP system.
• Continuously improve purchasing workflows, controls, reporting systems, and supplier relationships.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• Proven track record in Purchasing or Procurement Management.
• Preference for candidates experienced in structural steel fabrication, pre-engineered buildings (PEB), steel trading, or heavy manufacturing industries.
• In-depth knowledge of steel materials, specifications, and industrial procurement processes.
• Strong skills in supplier identification and negotiation.
• Understanding of lead times, inventory management, and production-related purchasing.
• Familiarity with ERP or procurement management software.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and follow-up capabilities.
• Aptitude for working in fast-paced manufacturing settings where purchasing impacts production efficiency.

Additional Information

This position requires a proactive Purchasing Manager who does more than process orders. The ideal candidate actively develops supplier partnerships, leverages negotiation expertise, predicts material needs, and ensures continuous support of production operations without interruptions.
