Job description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Distribution Supervisor to lead field teams working on electrical distribution and infrastructure initiatives throughout Canterbury. This role requires hands-on leadership to ensure the safe and effective completion of maintenance, construction, fault response, and project-related activities while managing a skillful group including Linespeople, Cable Jointers, Technicians, and Electrical Fitters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage distribution field crews operating across various sites
- Guarantee all projects are executed safely, on schedule, and to exacting standards
- Organize daily workflow, including resource allocation, contractor engagement, and equipment deployment
- Support and supervise maintenance, capital works, and network expansion projects
- Develop and maintain solid relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members
- Promote and uphold a robust safety, quality, and environmental culture throughout all operations
Candidate Profile
- Proven track record within electricity distribution, utilities, or power infrastructure sectors
- Strong leadership capabilities and experience managing personnel
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations and compliance frameworks applicable to the industry
- Experience in coordinating field teams and managing contractor activities
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Preferred: Current New Zealand Electrical Registration or relevant industry qualifications
- Must hold a full Class 1 driver’s license
