Job Overview

The Project Coordinator will support the Project Manager / Section Head of the Strategic PMO in driving the execution of various bank-wide strategic and operational projects. This role involves extensive administrative assistance including preparing communications, coordinating with stakeholders, and compiling data. The position requires maintaining comprehensive documentation covering project scope, timing, deliverables, dependencies, milestones, change control, and tracking critical project issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support prompt documentation and upkeep of project control methodologies and tools used across the bank.
  • Ensure projects have clear, time-bound goals with measurable targets aligned with corporate strategies.
  • Help identify and document major project challenges and facilitate action plans to address these.
  • Assist in monitoring how projects align strategically and procedurally with overall business objectives.
  • Contribute to identifying and capturing project process improvements.
  • Maintain thorough records of project planning, execution, and tracking activities.
  • Prepare and manage essential communication materials and dashboards for management and stakeholders, including requirements, presentations, project analyses, resource forecasts, budgets, and status reports.
  • Stay updated on modern project management methods and best industry practices and recommend their application to projects.
  • Assist in managing change control documentation related to project scope adjustments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional data gathering to identify interdependencies and prioritize project decisions.
  • Support financial oversight of projects including budgeting, costing, reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Assist in periodic project reviews focusing on progress, resource availability, timelines, and program trends.
  • Facilitate communication on scheduling conflicts, resource limits, and deadlines to ensure timely problem resolution.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to communicate progress and resolve project issues.
  • Help document project proposals, success criteria, objectives, benefits, schedules, and costs, maintaining liaison with functional teams and sharing information throughout project lifecycles.
  • Support risk management processes including risk identification, assessment, reporting, and mitigation planning.
  • Analyze and report post-implementation project performance against initial plans and goals.
  • Uphold compliance with audit, procedural, and control standards established by management.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and process enhancement efforts within the department.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, professionalism, ethics, and integrity in all assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Banking, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s in Management or similar is advantageous.
  • Certified in project management (PMP, Prince2, or equivalent) preferred.

Experience

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in the banking or financial services sector with relevant responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting small to medium scale projects within the banking industry.
  • Proven ability to assist with strategic and operational project planning and management.

Core Competencies and Skills

  • Solid business acumen and understanding of banking operations.
  • Strong project management skills with familiarity of related principles, tools, and processes.
  • Basic knowledge of finance, accounting, and budgeting practices.
  • Experience with project management/control systems and methodologies.
  • Understanding of risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Familiarity with strategic and operational business planning processes.
  • Knowledge of research techniques and analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in English essential; Arabic language skills would be beneficial.
