Job description

Job Overview

The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Management team to implement Nigeria's "Decade of Gas" initiative. This Federal Government program focuses on shifting the energy landscape from traditional fuels like firewood and kerosene toward Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), promoting cleaner fuel usage nationwide. The coordinator's primary responsibility involves managing the refilling and distribution of 3,000 units of 3kg LPG cylinders across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, enhancing energy security and public health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with supply partners such as Rainoil and Techno to finalize bulk LPG procurement agreements.
  • Ensure acquisition of all necessary secondary operational permits from NMDPRA covering storage, transport, and safety compliance.
  • Supervise procurement and technical vetting of 3,000 LPG cylinders to adhere to quality standards.
  • Conduct audits and compliance checks to align procurement with organizational policies.
  • Design and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to refilling, quality assurance, and hazardous material management.
  • Assist in developing a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management System tailored specifically for LPG-related risks.
  • Oversee nationwide logistics operations, including coordination of Road Tanker Trucks (RATTs) for distribution.
  • Monitor and review monthly financial cash flow against budget forecasts using Zoho Books platform.
  • Manage product tagging and inventory tracking systems countrywide to reduce losses.
  • Collect and analyze industry data to produce quarterly Industry Intelligence Reports (IIR) supporting strategic decisions.
  • Ensure strict enforcement of HSE protocols, including mandatory use of PPE (antistatic/flame-retardant clothing, safety boots, high-visibility vests, nitrile gloves, eye protection), leak testing before and after LPG transfer, maintaining 30-meter hazard zones, and employing spark-proof tools with adequate grounding.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline; advanced degrees (MSc) or PMP certification will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in project coordination roles, with at least two years within the Oil and Gas or LPG sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in project management software such as MS Project and Primavera P6.
  • Experience utilizing financial tracking tools like Zoho Books.
  • Expert knowledge in document control and HSE management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with regulatory bodies, including NMDPRA, NCDMB, and FMEnv.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and the ability to deliver data-driven industry intelligence reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail, proactive communication skills, and ability to adapt effectively under pressure.
