Job description

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer specialized in High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) electrical systems to take charge of the grid connectivity, design, and delivery phases for a growing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station network. The role demands managing the full process from initial site feasibility and load sanctioning with utilities to final commissioning and safety approvals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive site surveys and feasibility assessments for electrical installations.
  • Manage applications for electrical load sanctioning with local electricity boards and distribution companies (DISCOMs).
  • Design HT/LT electrical systems including the preparation of Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), sub-station layouts, transformer sizing (11kV/33kV), RMU selection, and LT panel specifications.
  • Supervise the complete installation process encompassing transformers, vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs), cable trenching, chemical earthing pits, and lightning protection setups.
  • Coordinate with government electrical inspectors such as CEIG and other authorities to secure energized safety clearances required for operation.
  • Implement power quality and safety measures including harmonic mitigation, power factor correction, and surge protection specifically adapted for high-power DC fast chargers ranging from 60kW to over 360kW.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years and up to 6 or more years of practical experience in HT/LT substation design, execution, and interconnection with utility grids.
  • Experience with EV infrastructure projects, commercial real estate, or industrial power is highly preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with local electrical codes, grid compliance requirements, IEC standards 61851 and 62196, and safety regulations.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD or equivalent electrical design software along with proven project and vendor management skills.
