Job description

Role Overview

The Production Technician plays a critical frontline role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of chemical processing equipment at the plant. Responsibilities include closely monitoring process parameters, conducting routine operational checks, executing production activities, and rigorously following all safety and quality standards to maintain high-grade chemical product output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a zero-tolerance safety culture by enforcing the “Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time” philosophy and Stop Work Authority policies.
  • Adhere strictly to all company and site operational procedures, promptly escalating any issues to supervisors.
  • Proactively monitor production metrics and take corrective action when abnormalities occur.
  • Complete all assigned training and qualifications to be fully certified for required tasks.
  • Operate assigned chemical processes safely and efficiently to consistently reach daily production and quality targets.
  • Engage actively in safety meetings and serve as a trained member of the Emergency Response Team, capable of operating in full protective gear.
  • Work with supervisors to prioritize daily operational tasks ensuring smooth production flow.
  • Set up, dismantle, and maintain production machinery to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Operate and troubleshoot analytical instruments to verify in-process and final product quality.
  • Continuously review and update Standard Operating Procedures and documentation to reflect best practices and actual on-floor operations.
  • Achieve personal annual goals aligned with both plant objectives and professional growth plans.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum Nitec certification in Chemical Process Technology or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in process, production, or project engineering in fields such as specialty chemicals, food, nuclear, semiconductor, or pharmaceutical operations.
  • Quick learner with aptitude for understanding complex chemical processing in dynamic environments.
  • Competent in technical troubleshooting to resolve process issues effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical and mechanical processing systems, including pumps, piping, manifolds, and valves.
  • Forklift and elevated platform operation skills considered a plus.
  • A strong commitment to safety practices and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing at various organizational levels.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work rotating shifts as needed.
