About the Role
Pact Packaging – Steel Division is a manufacturer of steel drums serving the New Zealand market, supplying major clients in sectors like dairy and food ingredients. The business prides itself on world-class manufacturing standards, pragmatic commercial approaches, and a strong customer-focused environment.
We are searching for a seasoned Production Supervisor to guide our manufacturing team at the Avondale facility, driving operational excellence through leadership and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the production team to foster a safe, engaged, and high-performing workplace culture.
- Manage daily production processes ensuring operational, quality, service, and efficiency goals are met.
- Promote and enforce robust health, safety, and environmental standards to maintain a proactive safety culture.
- Track production performance, identify areas for enhancement, and implement initiatives to improve productivity and reliability.
- Serve as the main communication bridge between frontline teams and site leadership, ensuring alignment and clarity.
- Support workforce planning, optimize labor utilization, maintain inventory control, and allocate resources effectively.
- Provide leadership support to the Operations Manager to sustain operational continuity and assist in decision-making when necessary.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven leadership experience within manufacturing, production, FMCG, or operational settings.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop teams to deliver strong performance results.
- Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills at all organizational levels.
- Knowledgeable about health and safety protocols, quality management systems, and manufacturing best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite and strong computer literacy.
- Mechanical aptitude alongside a practical, hands-on leadership approach.
- Passionate about continuous improvement and driving effective change.
Additional Information
- Location: Avondale site, Auckland.
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, totaling 40 hours weekly.
- No overtime or on-call duties are required.
