Role Overview
The Production Planner will oversee production scheduling tasks, ensure timely release of work orders, and coordinate delivery schedules to meet customer expectations. Working closely with purchasing and logistics teams, the planner will manage material availability and shipments to support production continuity. Responsibilities include spare parts planning and optimization, reducing excess and obsolete inventory, and continuously enhancing processes and performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and release production work orders aligned with shipment deadlines driven by customer needs.
- Collaborate extensively with procurement and warehouse/logistics departments to secure timely delivery and receipt of raw materials and finished goods.
- Track and manage material shortages, expedite procurement, and ensure availability to comply with production plans.
- Provide spares planning assistance to guarantee prompt spare part deliveries to distribution centers.
- Optimize spare repair material inventories to sustain replenishment programs efficiently.
- Implement strategies to minimize surplus and obsolete inventory stock.
- Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of operational procedures and key performance indicators.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Technical Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or an equivalent field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing and production planning.
- Knowledgeable in managing work orders and proficient in interpreting Bills of Material.
- Competent in ERP systems, preferably with SAP (Production Planning module), including supply chain management, material flow, and production planning analytics.
- Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments, especially equipment manufacturing and Design for Test (DFT)/pull production systems, is advantageous.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset, self-motivated, capable of performing well under pressure with a strong sense of urgency.
- Adaptability to fast-paced settings and flexibility to coordinate with multiple offshore locations.
