Job description
Position Overview
The role of Production Planner involves collaborating closely with Assembly, Purchasing, and other departments to develop and continuously update a comprehensive production schedule for the assigned area. This position requires managing capacity calculations to ensure full utilization and coordinating the material release from warehouses to production lines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed production plans in partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate scheduling to maximize production capacity and efficiency.
- Manage sales order (SO) processes including timely opening and closing, verifying standard costs, analyzing additional material needs, and resolving discrepancies in costing and bill of materials prior to SO closure.
- Schedule material releases from warehousing aligned with production requirements, ensuring materials are available before releasing sales orders and collaborating to minimize shortages.
- Respond proactively to deviations concerning capacity or material supply by re-planning production as necessary.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing lead times, increasing operational flexibility, lowering inventory levels, boosting productivity, and streamlining processes.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Production, Sourcing, and Engineering teams to assess customer orders, set achievable delivery commitments, and provide accurate production finish dates.
- Contribute to inventory management goals by balancing delivery and stock levels, monitoring material stock and work-in-progress inventory, and managing obsolete and slow-moving items.
Experience Requirements
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as M3 is preferred.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications.
- Practical knowledge of Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
Educational Background
Candidate should possess a full-time degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering with three to five years of relevant professional experience.
