Job description

About Wise

Wise is a global technology company dedicated to creating the most efficient and cost-effective methods for sending and managing money worldwide. Our mission is to simplify international money transactions, making them faster, cheaper, and easier for individuals and businesses alike.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the development and deployment of our new data lake platform. This platform underpins all analytics, reporting, and AI functionalities within Wise. The successful candidate will oversee the transition to a modern lakehouse environment, taking full ownership of the product roadmap and driving adoption. Collaborating closely with a dedicated engineering team and guided by the Product Lead for Data Products & Insights, you will be central to one of Wise's most significant data infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and evolution of Wise's core data lake platform, supporting critical areas such as real-time fraud detection, workforce management, analytics, and financial reporting.
  • Engage with internal teams that rely on data as your end users, gathering their requirements, prioritizing platform features that deliver maximum value, and orchestrating the product roadmap accordingly.
  • Drive adoption by ensuring each migrated dataset offers improvements in speed, cost efficiency, or reliability compared to previous systems, encouraging organic platform usage.
  • Facilitate onboarding processes for teams adopting the platform, identify user challenges, and translate these insights into continuous product enhancements.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators including adoption rates, query speeds, operational costs, data quality incidents, and user trust metrics.
  • Implement metadata management, ownership structures, and access controls to foster user confidence and secure platform usage.

Candidate Profile

  • Approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in product management or a combination of product and hands-on data-related roles, with at least two platform-level products delivered end-to-end.
  • Solid background in data infrastructure, including experience building or closely collaborating on data pipelines, warehouses, or lakes, along with proficiency in SQL.
  • Ability to transform complex and uncertain technical endeavors into clear, actionable roadmaps with measurable success criteria.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with engineering teams and clarify technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Deep empathy for data users, demonstrated by proactive user engagement, observation of pain points, and leveraging these insights to improve the product.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on familiarity with modern data technologies such as Iceberg, Delta, Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, or Airflow.
  • Experience participating in data migration or platform re-architecture projects from either product or engineering perspectives.
  • Background in financial services or other regulated sectors is advantageous.

Additional Information

Wise is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, cultivating an environment where team members from varied backgrounds can thrive and contribute. Our international workforce is a source of strength, empowerment, and innovation as we build a borderless money movement platform for everyone, everywhere.
