About the Role and Company
PGG Wrightson Seeds (PGWS), a member of the international DLF Group, serves both New Zealand and global markets with superior seed solutions. Operating near Tinwald, Ashburton, PGWS is a leading processor of seed and grain products essential to the arable industry, supporting growers, livestock producers, and manufacturers.
Position Overview
We are looking for a Processing Supervisor to manage the daily functions of our seed processing and dressing facility within our AgriPro operation. This vital role impacts the start of the supply chain and directly contributes to New Zealand's arable sector success. The position demands effective leadership, a dedication to quality and safety, and a hands-on approach. Prior experience in seed processing is a plus but not mandatory; the main focus is strong leadership and operational management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage seed cleaning, processing, and coating lines, including the advanced Petkus Seed Cleaning Line, ensuring smooth operations and continuous improvement.
- Lead and supervise personnel operating the coating plant, enforcing adherence to treatment recipes and efficient procedures.
- Monitor production outputs and quality by collecting and analyzing samples to meet strict standards.
- Champion training initiatives and best practice adoption to strengthen team capabilities.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment and process challenges promptly.
- Ensure a clean, safe workplace that complies with health and safety guidelines.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong people management skills, including mentoring and coaching abilities.
- Experience or understanding of seed processing/dressing is beneficial but not required.
- Familiarity with machinery operation and maintenance or farming background is advantageous.
- Mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain various equipment.
- Experience in delivering training sessions is preferred.
- Certification to operate a forklift is mandatory; training is available.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
