About the Role and Company
Join Microsoft Frontier Company as a Principal Data Scientist and contribute to delivering impactful solutions for complex global organizations. This role involves embedding with customer teams through the Forward Deployed Engineering model to rapidly develop and deploy production-grade data solutions in collaboration with engineers, product managers, and domain experts.
Responsibilities
- Source and prepare necessary data sets for projects, ensuring completeness and proper formatting while overseeing ethical and privacy considerations.
- Assess model performance using business-relevant metrics, enhance models as needed, and implement scalable operational models. Conduct detailed reviews of data analysis methods and innovate new evaluation approaches.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies, contribute to strategic opportunities and thought leadership, and write maintainable, debuggable code across multiple features.
- Define strategic goals in partnership with other teams, acknowledge customer needs, and deliver practical data solutions aligned with customer capabilities.
- Serve as a data science expert by guiding engineers and cross-functional teams on best practices and promoting knowledge sharing within multidisciplinary groups.
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field, coupled with experience managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques, and reporting results.
- Equivalent professional experience is also considered.
- Proven experience working directly with customers or internal stakeholders to deliver end-to-end data science solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degrees in the aforementioned fields paired with substantial data science experience.
- Experience in customer-facing roles, project delivery, professional services, or consulting.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%, depending on role requirements.

Compensation for this position in the United Kingdom ranges between A393,500 and A3161,800 annually, with eligibility for benefits and additional compensation as applicable.
