About the Role
Join Kusum Engineering Works as a Power Press Operator based in Howrah, West Bengal. This full-time and permanent position requires operating mechanical power presses to produce sheet-metal components accurately and safely according to designated drawings, samples, and specifications. Reporting to the Press Shop In-Charge or Production Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mechanical power presses for tasks such as blanking, punching, piercing, bending, and forming sheet metal as per production schedules.
- Assist in mounting, changing, and unloading dies and tools, ensuring proper alignment and handling to avoid damage.
- Feed sheet-metal blanks correctly, confirming material grade, thickness, and size while minimizing material waste.
- Conduct initial and periodic quality inspections of components using measuring instruments and gauges, and segregate any defective items promptly.
- Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced, defects, and machine downtime.
- Perform routine machine maintenance such as cleaning and lubrication, monitor machine condition, and report abnormalities like leaks or unusual noises immediately.
- Adhere strictly to factory safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and never bypassing safety devices.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Preferably 2 to 5 years of experience operating mechanical power presses, especially in sheet-metal component manufacturing.
- Familiarity with blanking, piercing, bending, and forming operations is advantageous; freshers with adequate technical understanding may be considered for junior roles.
- Basic technical competency including operating presses independently, understanding die tooling concepts, recognizing common defects, using precision measuring tools such as vernier calipers and micrometers, and reading engineering drawings.
- Physically fit to perform factory duties and able to maintain discipline and punctuality.
- Safety-conscious, detail-oriented, responsible, and a team player capable of maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
Work Schedule and Location
The role requires working Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Kusum Engineering Works, Howrah, West Bengal.
Salary and Career Growth
The salary range is ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month, reflective of experience and skill level. Operators who demonstrate the capability to set up presses independently, manage die changes and alignment, troubleshoot tooling issues, and sustain component quality have potential for higher compensation and advancement opportunities including roles such as Senior Press Operator, Press Setter, and Press Shop Supervisor.
