About Open Country Dairy Group
Open Country Dairy Group is New Zealand’s largest independent dairy manufacturer, producing premium dairy ingredients and consumer goods for a global customer base. Operating across New Zealand, the company fosters a safe, collaborative, and encouraging workplace where employees can grow, learn, and contribute meaningfully.
Role Overview
Join the Waikato Powder team at our Horotiu and Waharoa sites as a Packing Operator. We have openings for two fixed-term contracts and one permanent role. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you'll work 12-hour shifts following a 4 on, 4 off roster (2 days, 2 nights, then 4 off). Your responsibilities will include handling and tipping ingredients, operating both powder and AMF packing lines, managing product handling and documentation, upholding cleaning and housekeeping standards, and collaborating with production, quality, warehouse, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.
Candidate Profile
While experience in food manufacturing or powder packing is beneficial, we prioritize a positive attitude, reliability, eagerness to learn, and a strong focus on safety. Key qualities include:
- A combined commitment to Health and Safety and Food Safety and Quality standards, demonstrating pride in performing tasks correctly
- Experience in food processing, manufacturing, or production settings, especially with automated equipment
- Effective communication skills, sound literacy and numeracy, and basic computer proficiency
- Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and physical capability to lift 25kg bags repeatedly over a shift
- A cooperative and team-oriented mindset, ready to actively participate
- Holding current legal right to work in New Zealand
- Forklift operating experience or first aid certification is advantageous
Why Work With Us
Being part of our team means you’ll receive support to develop your skills, competitive pay, and opportunities for professional growth within the dairy industry. We value your contribution and provide both internal and external upskilling possibilities.
