Job description

Company Overview

Nexthink is a leading company in digital employee experience management software. It equips IT leaders with unparalleled insights to identify and resolve issues impacting employees worldwide before they become noticeable. With over 1,500 customers serving 25+ million employees, Nexthink operates globally from its dual headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, and Boston, Massachusetts, with nine offices worldwide.

Role Overview

The Core Infrastructure team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational AWS platform architecture supporting engineering operations. The team manages a cell-based system running on AWS regions globally, handling trillions of events daily across 15 million devices. The role involves evolving this infrastructure to support emerging workloads, including AI and agent-based processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain AWS infrastructure end-to-end, covering edge services, networking, multi-account cell architecture, and the EKS platform.
  • Balance operational tasks, automation projects, peer team requests, and new design initiatives according to platform needs.
  • Implement infrastructure as code and GitOps best practices to automate provisioning, upgrades, and ensure consistency across the estate.
  • Collaborate closely with product and feature teams to translate their requirements into autonomous, self-service capabilities.
  • Maintain platform reliability, security, and cost efficiency by managing upgrades, autoscaling, observability, security hardening, and compliance with standards like FedRAMP and FIPS; participate in on-call rotations.
  • Contribute to architectural development to enhance scale, resilience, and support for new workload types.

Team Culture and Work Approach

  • Team members have ownership and autonomy over their respective areas, making decisions based on what best serves the platform.
  • Close collaboration with dependent teams ensures the platform evolves in alignment with actual needs.
  • Working at scale across multiple AWS regions and using modern tools makes the work complex and engaging.
  • Focus on refining and enhancing an existing, functioning platform, shifting from foundational setup to advanced improvements.
  • Integration of AI tools to streamline routine operations, emphasizing engineering over manual operator tasks, with careful automation due to infrastructure criticality.

Candidate Profile

  • Self-directed, able to understand team needs and independently formulate effective plans.
  • Effective communicator comfortable managing requests from diverse sources, with experience in smaller or lean teams valued.
  • Pragmatic and quality-focused, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • A solid background in cloud infrastructure and strong software engineering practices with typically over 5 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, software engineering, or site reliability engineering roles.
  • Academic qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar fields, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with AWS services, including networking (VPC), edge services (CloudFront, API Gateway), compute (EKS), and related technologies.
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes, especially Amazon EKS, along with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu, and a GitOps approach.
  • Experience juggling operational tasks, automation, inter-team requests, and new design projects with sound prioritization.
  • A production-oriented mindset emphasizing uptime, security, and operational efficiency, with excellent English communication skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to or familiarity with compliance-focused environments such as FedRAMP or FIPS.
  • Experience creating internal developer self-service platforms using modern tooling.
  • Background working with large-scale cell-based or multi-region cloud architectures.

Additional Information

Nexthink employs advanced solutions like Amazon MSK to process trillions of events daily, real-time alerting via Amazon Managed Service for Apache Flink, and AI-powered agents on Amazon SageMaker. The company values diversity and inclusivity, hosting over 75 nationalities globally. It fosters a collaborative environment with challenging projects and an enjoyable atmosphere.

Employee Benefits

  • Permanent employment contract with competitive pay.
  • Comprehensive health insurance including OPD coverage for dental, vision, health check-ups, consultations, and medications.

  • Free access to professional learning platforms for skill enhancement.
  • Personal accident insurance with coverage up to three times the annual salary, protecting against accidents, injuries, and disabilities.
  • Substantial maternity and paternity benefits including up to 26 weeks of maternity leave and 6 weeks of paternity leave; similar provisions for adoptive parents.
  • Gratuity payments after 5 years of service, calculated as 15 days of basic pay per year, payable upon retirement or resignation.
  • Referral bonuses awarded after three months of successful employment of referred candidates.
