About The Role

The Planning Specialist plays a critical role in shaping how maintenance, capital, and customer-driven programs are planned and executed across the TasNetworks Distribution network. This position focuses on translating strategic business priorities into pragmatic delivery plans. It requires balancing resource capabilities, network risks, and customer needs to facilitate safe, efficient, and cost-effective implementation of network activities. The outcomes of this role directly influence resource allocation, risk management, and program sequencing to ensure successful operational delivery.

Collaborating closely with planning, design, field operations, asset management, and program delivery teams, the specialist optimizes work packages, maintains a rolling 12-month delivery schedule, and provides insightful recommendations in complex planning scenarios. The role supports the management of an annual program portfolio valued at approximately $70 million and encourages continuous improvement of work management practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Maximize productivity through optimal work package design, resource deployment, and delivery timelines while adhering to safety, budgetary, and performance targets.
• Evaluate competing priorities, operational constraints, and network risk factors to guide sound planning decisions.
• Coordinate planning and execution of intricate maintenance, capital, and customer-driven projects alongside operational and technical teams.
• Utilize enterprise systems, geospatial technologies, and planning datasets to monitor delivery success, identify risks, and enhance execution outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant qualifications in project management, business systems, or related fields, or equivalent industry experience.
• Professional background in the utility sector with knowledge in electricity distribution, maintenance, construction, or trades.
• Proven capability in managing complex, high-risk work programs with competing demands.
• Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems, Power BI, Microsoft Office applications, and geospatial technologies.
• Strong analytical acumen and relationship-building skills with an ability to translate complex data into actionable planning results.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

This is a permanent, full-time role based at the Cambridge office. The total remuneration package starts at $140,000 per annum plus superannuation and is negotiable based on the candidate’s experience and skills.
