About the Role
TCS is seeking a Payroll Lead based in Peterborough, UK, to manage the complete payroll operations for UK, Ireland, and Isle of Man jurisdictions. The permanent position operates in a hybrid work environment and offers a chance to influence payroll strategy, system improvements, and employee experience enhancements. The successful candidate will lead payroll delivery with accuracy, compliance, and process excellence while collaborating closely with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Key Duties
- Supervise all stages of payroll processing including input, validation, execution, and activities following payroll runs.
- Ensure accurate, timely payroll execution for employees across three payroll locations.
- Verify payroll outputs and generate customized reports for varying stakeholder needs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, statutory regulations, and local payroll requirements.
- Manage payroll audits and address compliance-related issues efficiently.
- Keep updated on legislation and system changes affecting payroll operations.
- Serve as the main point of contact for HR, finance, and external vendors such as pension providers.
- Handle employee queries and escalations with timely resolutions.
- Provide payroll insights and reports to support business stakeholders.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization and automation.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to improve accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Assist with payroll system implementations or upgrades.
Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with payroll processing and legislation, specifically in the UK or similar jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated capability managing payrolls across multiple countries.
- High attention to detail combined with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis techniques.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Adept at managing multiple deadlines within a fast-moving environment.
- Experience with payroll systems, process digitalization, and optimization initiatives.
