Patient Transporter

Responsibilities

• Maintain unobstructed hallways by relocating unused equipment to designated storage.
• Facilitate smooth and safe transfers of patients between beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, and cribs.
• Transport patient-related belongings, paperwork, lab samples, and medical equipment efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of all transport activities and communicate essential information through the Transportation system.
• Collaborate with healthcare staff, patients, and families through effective communication.
• Participate actively in ongoing training sessions to enhance job skills and knowledge.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support patient care and departmental operations.

Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to anticipate and meet customer needs in a courteous, professional, and proactive manner.
• Clear and effective communication in English, both verbal and written, tailored appropriately across different age groups including infants to geriatric patients.
• Competence in operating patient handling equipment such as stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs.
• Proficient reading and comprehension abilities to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude, especially for emergency or unusual situations.
• Capability to multitask efficiently and perform duties at a fast pace without compromising quality.
• Professional appearance and demeanor, maintaining a pleasant attitude.
• Physical fitness to endure frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and patient transfers.
• Basic computer skills for accessing patient records and completing departmental clerical tasks.
• Quick adaptability to new software tools, equipment, and organizational policies.
• Cooperative teamwork attitude with peers, clinicians, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
• Strict adherence to patient identification and verification protocols prior to transport.

Education and Experience

• Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: At least one year of experience involving public contact within a medical environment.

Licenses and Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR certification.
• Preferred: Valid Driver’s License.

• Hourly pay range between $13.63 and $20.44.
