About the Role
The Patient Services Assistant (PSA) Level 2 in the Intensive Care Unit is tasked with maintaining superior standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the ward and patient areas. The PSA plays a vital role within the hospital team by supporting clinical and nursing staff through five main functional areas: Cleaning & Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Transport & Couriering, Ward Support, and Patient Support.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure environmental cleanliness and housekeeping standards are consistently met across wards, patient zones, and other hospital spaces to comply with infection control protocols.
- Support patients by assisting with mobility, including lifting, positioning, and transporting patients within the hospital premises.
- Provide ward assistance by restocking necessary supplies, managing linens and waste, verifying equipment condition such as oxygen cylinders, and maintaining the ward's readiness for daily operations.
- Deliver food and beverage services, including meal delivery, verifying food orders, and restocking pantry and refrigeration areas.
- Safely transport patients, specimens, equipment, and clinical items between wards and departments as required.
- Promote a safe and cooperative work environment by actively participating in emergency situations, adhering to safety protocols and information management policies, and collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Essential Requirements
- Possession of a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance.
- Valid Food Handlers Certificate.
- Strong service orientation with meticulous attention to procedures and detail.
- Effective time management capabilities.
- Professional personal appearance and hygiene, as well as proficient reading and writing skills in English.
- Physical capacity to lift, push, and move heavy objects and walk considerable distances during daily responsibilities.
