Partnership Analyst

About the Role

The Partnership Analyst position, based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, supports the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Field Units in advancing volunteer mobilization through strategic partnership development, business intelligence, and operational coordination. The role involves engaging with UN agencies, governments, and civil society to integrate volunteerism into humanitarian, peace, and development programs, while also managing volunteer well-being and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong country-level partnerships with UN agencies, government bodies, civil society, and private sector entities to promote volunteerism and align with UNV’s mandate.
• Participate in United Nations planning frameworks to ensure volunteer integration within collective initiatives.
• Analyze cooperative frameworks and sector strategies to identify opportunities for volunteer involvement.
• Assess partner demand and design volunteer mobilization strategies consistent with UNV’s strategic objectives.
• Promote volunteerism through outreach, awareness campaigns, and community engagement activities.
• Produce data-driven presentations and documents articulating UNV’s value proposition to partners.
• Support national talent attraction efforts, forecasting recruitment demands, and coordinating with regional colleagues on talent pipeline management.
• Collect and manage country-level business intelligence regarding UN partner mandates, programmes, and emerging priorities relevant to volunteer deployment.
• Monitor volunteer mobilization trends, key performance metrics, and utilize corporate tools to aid strategic planning.
• Recommend country-specific mobilization priorities aligned with regional directives and local contexts.
• Coordinate with security and medical staff to ensure volunteer duty of care, compliance with security protocols, and timely medical evacuation when necessary.
• Maintain regular communication with volunteers and their supervisors to support well-being and address emerging issues.
• Develop and implement annual work plans, manage budgets and operational funds, and supervise assigned personnel within the Field Unit.
• Facilitate a collaborative and professional work environment promoting continuous learning and effective service delivery.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in social sciences, international development, public/business administration, project management, or related areas. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with additional qualifying experience will be considered.
• Minimum two years (with master’s) or four years (with bachelor’s) experience in partnerships, development cooperation, international relations, or programme analysis, preferably within humanitarian, development, or peace sectors.
• Proven experience in partnership building, stakeholder engagement, and inter-agency collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct analytical work including partner mapping, business intelligence, demand analysis, and producing knowledge products.
• Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills with ability to translate strategies into actionable initiatives.
• Proficiency in standard office software and digital collaboration tools; openness to digital transformation and new technology adoption.
• Experience in the UN system, UNDP, UNV, or similar international organizations is advantageous.
• Experience with volunteer management and engagement with civil society organizations is highly desirable.
• Excellent fluency in English and local language of the duty station.

Additional Information

• The position is open to candidates across various tiers of UNDP/UNV staff and external applicants, with priority given based on organizational commitments.
• The successful candidate will be employed under a UNDP Non-Staff Personnel Agreement (NPSA) contract.
