Job Overview

At Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre, the Painter & Polisher maintains the aesthetic excellence of the hotel's interior and exterior surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. This role is essential to uphold the high standards of a luxury Forbes Five-Star property, ensuring an outstanding environment for guests and team members alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute painting, touch-up, varnishing, and polishing tasks across various hotel areas, including guest rooms, suites, public spaces, meeting rooms, back-of-house zones, furniture, and equipment.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling, and repairing minor defects before finishing applications.
• Mix and match paints and finishes to align with established property color schemes and specifications.
• Apply paints, varnishes, stains, and other finishing materials using suitable tools such as brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
• Perform refinishing and polishing on wooden furniture, doors, frames, fixtures, and other surfaces requiring maintenance.
• Address minor repairs to painted and finished surfaces, correcting scratches, chips, cracks, dents, and other visible imperfections.
• Inspect assigned areas for painting or finishing needs and report any significant defects to engineering supervisors or managers.
• Support preventive maintenance efforts in guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, and service zones.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, completing assigned work within stipulated deadlines.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, and overall presentation on all completed tasks.
• Protect nearby furniture, fixtures, flooring, and equipment during maintenance activities.
• Adhere strictly to Health and Safety protocols and use personal protective equipment when handling paints, chemicals, or solvents.
• Properly handle, store, and dispose of paints, chemicals, and related materials following hotel and safety guidelines.
• Keep tools, equipment, and work areas orderly, clean, safe, and functional.
• Assist with engineering projects, renovations, refurbishments, and other departmental initiatives as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with engineering colleagues and other departments to minimize disruption to hotel operations and guest experience.
• Maintain professional demeanor and courteous conduct when working in guest areas and interact appropriately with guests when necessary.
• Participate in emergency response activities involving the Engineering and Maintenance teams as required.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and internal clients regarding maintenance activities and progress.
• Contribute to meeting Engineering department goals and upholding Waldorf Astoria’s Forbes Five-Star property standards.
• Perform other duties as directed by Engineering leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of a diploma or relevant certification in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Prior experience in a multi-skilled technician or engineering role, preferably within a luxury hotel setting.
• Familiarity with property management or building maintenance tasks.
• Positive and proactive work attitude.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Dedication to delivering superior service quality.
• Impeccable grooming and professional presentation standards.
• Adaptable and flexible approach to varied job situations.
• Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
