About the Role

Join McCain Foods in Timaru as a Processing Operator where you will oversee a designated production zone within our 24/7 plant. Your role involves converting locally sourced potatoes into premium quality chips and fries, with significant responsibility for your area to meet international standards. No prior experience is required as full training will be provided to help you excel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take complete responsibility for the performance and standards of your assigned production zone.
  • Operate computerized machinery using touchscreen interfaces to ensure seamless production stages.
  • Participate in a structured 12-hour shift pattern: 2 days from 7am to 7pm, 2 nights from 7pm to 7am, followed by 4 days off.
  • Be on your feet for most of the shift involving extended standing and walking.
  • Complete essential data entry and documentation for quality control and administrative purposes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of your area to uphold food safety and plant standards.
  • Detect and troubleshoot product or machine issues promptly, adjusting to workplace changes.
  • Work mostly independently, collaborating with a small team and ensuring smooth shift handovers.

Requirements

  • Strong mental agility with the ability to quickly learn, solve problems, and adapt within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency to handle touchscreen-operated machines and data input tasks.
  • Capability to take ownership of responsibilities and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Physical fitness suitable for long periods of standing and walking during long shifts.
  • Positive mindset and eagerness to learn; comprehensive training available to support success.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and food quality compliance.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing or shift work is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in New Zealand with the current work visa; sponsorship is not offered.
  • Willingness to undergo medical assessments, drug tests, and reference verifications.
