Position Overview

The Open Pit Mine Surveyor will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate mine plans and updating surface layout maps for new structures at the Laverton site. Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, this position involves high-precision survey activities, mine survey data management, and supporting month-end calculations. You will also ensure adherence to survey standards and contribute to operational safety and efficiency, especially within the new Bruno-Lewis Project.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform precise open pit surveying and maintain current mine survey documentation
• Support mine planning activities with up-to-date data and survey inputs
• Review and enhance survey workflows and procedures to comply with statutory and operational requirements
• Assist with reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements for safe and efficient operations

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant qualifications in surveying
• Preferred: Authorised Mine Surveyor Grade 2 certification
• Demonstrated surveying experience within open pit mining environments
• Experience working in contract mining settings
• Strong organizational and communication abilities
• Skilled in mine planning software, preferably Deswik, along with Microsoft Office
• Proficiency using Leica total stations, Trimble GPS systems, DJI UAVs, and Optech CMS equipment

Mandatory Certifications and Licenses

• Applicable Legislation Examination from the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS), Australia
• BSBWHS411 – Implement and monitor workplace health and safety policies and programs from an approved registered training organisation (RTO), Australia
• BSBWHS513 (or RIIRIS501E) – Lead workplace health and safety risk management from an approved RTO, Australia
• Diploma of Surveying conferred by the National Skills Standards Council, Australia
• RIIRIS402E – Conduct workplace risk management processes
