Overview
The OCC Duty Manager is a pivotal figure overseeing and coordinating operations across multiple teams within the Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC). This role ensures the uninterrupted and efficient functioning of daily flight operations in a complex multi-hub, multi-airline structure. The manager monitors flights, addresses potential disruptions, implements contingency plans, and optimizes operational efficiency while ensuring safety and cost control.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform all Operational Control Center (OCC) duties for daily scheduled flights during assigned shifts, maintaining a proactive approach to operational excellence.
- Serve as the main contact for resolving operational conflicts and issues within the IOCC, making decisive actions to sustain smooth workflows.
- Manage full oversight of the airline's flight schedules, handling all operational elements carefully and anticipating challenges.
- Proactively coordinate rerouting, rescheduling, or cancellations of flights by considering both operational requirements and commercial impacts to maximize efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with IOCC management and other departments to tackle facility deficiencies that could interfere with scheduled flights, with safety as a priority.
- Lead response efforts for emergencies, incidents, and accidents, ensuring timely and effective handling.
- Report accidents and incidents promptly to IOCC management to enable transparent and comprehensive follow-up.
- Make operational decisions to recover operations during abnormal events, including delays, crew and aircraft rescheduling, diversions, and managing situations like adverse weather, technical failures, medical emergencies, and security threats.
- Track and process incoming communications from relevant authorities across all countries the airline operates in, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Constantly monitor flight statuses and real-time operational data to detect potential disruptions and develop contingency strategies for minimal impact and reputation protection.
- Oversee allocation and deployment of resources such as aircraft, crew, and ground equipment, optimizing utilization and controlling costs.
- Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders and external partners including airport authorities, air traffic control, and ground handlers, ensuring swift coordination and resolution of operational challenges.
- Monitor fuel usage and implement fuel-saving practices by optimizing flight routes, altitudes, and procedures, balancing safety with cost efficiency.
- Analyze operational data trends to recommend improvements and refine processes to enhance efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Keep detailed records of operational incidents, disruptions, and shift decisions for future reference and audits.
- Ensure strict adherence to aviation regulations and safety standards, maintaining passenger, crew, and staff safety while minimizing delays and disruptions.

Qualifications and Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, engineering, aviation operations, or related discipline.
- Expertise in emergency response management, including incident and accident protocols within airline operations.
- Understanding meteorological concepts and interpreting weather forecasts for operational decision-making.
- Knowledge of aviation navigational systems and technologies for planning and communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and specialized aviation software systems such as crew management, flight planning, and data analysis tools.
- Comprehensive understanding of national and international aviation rules and compliance applicable to multi-hub, multi-airline operations.
- Familiarity with aviation communication protocols involving air traffic control and ground operations partners.
- Strong crisis management skills and ability to lead incident response efforts.
- Competence in decision-making frameworks for rapid assessment and action under pressure.
- Awareness of global geography, airspace regulations, and airport infrastructure for efficient flight oversight.
- In-depth understanding of aerospace industry functions including scheduling, crew management, and aircraft performance.
Experience Requirements
- Over 10 years of progressively responsible experience in airline operations, including at least 3 years in a managerial position, ideally within a multi-hub, multi-airline environment.
- Proven skill in identifying operational risks and implementing strategies to manage and mitigate them proactively.
