About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Service Manager to join our Green By Nature team at the Porana, Northcote depot. This pivotal position involves overseeing nationwide service and maintenance activities for approximately 3,000 assets across 25 depots. The successful candidate will lead a team ensuring all operations are carried out safely, reliably, and cost-effectively.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee daily workshop operations including capacity, workflow, task distribution, quality of workmanship, and cleanliness through close management of the Workshop Foreman.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the Service Administrator, Service Engineer, Workshop Foreman, and Mechanics.
- Take charge of implementing planned and preventive maintenance schedules aligned with standards established by the National Fleet Manager.
- Manage Repair & Maintenance (R&M) contract processes from quotes through to completion and invoicing.
- Authorize R&M quotes within delegated financial authority and escalate exceptions immediately.
- Track and analyze workshop utilization, technician productivity, work-in-progress (WIP), maintenance compliance, and asset availability.
- Ensure all workshops and field service activities comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, internal policies, and applicable technical standards.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated expertise and confidence in Microsoft Office, fleet or maintenance management systems, and service-related software.
- Strong mechanical or engineering foundation, ideally backed by a trade, engineering, or mechanical qualification.
- Experience managing service, maintenance, or workshop operations, preferably on multiple sites.
- Safety-focused mindset with a commitment to accountability and consistency in fulfilling responsibilities.
- Organized, driven by continuous improvement, and capable of effectively operating across a geographically dispersed network.
