Job Overview

The Motor Man is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, installation, and removal of machinery and equipment to ensure efficient, safe drilling operations. The role involves continuous monitoring, cleaning, and upkeep of engine rooms and machinery spaces, with a strong focus on the safety of personnel, environment, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct engine room and machine space watchkeeping duties by monitoring temperatures, pressures, and lubricating oil levels, logging all equipment activity daily.
• Report any unusual leaks, vibrations, noises, or abnormal readings promptly to the shift supervisor.
• Lubricate mechanical parts such as gears, shafts, and bearings on engines and auxiliary equipment regularly.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on engine room machinery as directed and assist in engine and equipment repairs.
• Carry out stocktaking of maintenance materials as instructed and keep all tools and equipment clean and serviceable.
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the engine room, machine spaces, and workshops, eliminating hazards before and after completing tasks.
• Dispose of debris and hazardous materials following company policies on waste management and environmental safety.

Qualifications and Experience

• Preferably completed formal mechanical training through a multi-year apprenticeship or similar program.
• Relevant technical certifications and experience in oil field operations may substitute for formal apprenticeship.
• At least one year of experience working on drilling and workover operations with a reputable drilling contractor is required.
• Experience working on offshore rigs is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

• Basic working knowledge of English language.
• Strong situational awareness, effective communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Physical Demands

• Frequent climbing of stairs and ladders.
• Regular lifting, pushing, and pulling activities in line with company procedures.
• Frequent bending, twisting, and standing.
• Capable of working outdoors in extreme weather conditions including noise, humidity, cold, and heat.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work in rotating day and night shifts.

Certifications

• Compliance with the ADES Training Matrix certifications is required.
