Role Overview
We are seeking a Middle LiDAR Processing Specialist to join our Hobart-based team. This position entails handling the processing, classification, and validation of aerial LiDAR and point cloud datasets. The specialist will be responsible for extracting and modeling various utility-related features including power lines, conductors, poles, towers, vegetation, along with ground elements.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
- Process and classify LiDAR data effectively.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on point cloud datasets.
- Extract critical features from 3D spatial data.
- Ensure accuracy by detecting and addressing data quality issues.
- Possess basic to intermediate knowledge of GIS technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with utility data, specifically related to power transmission and distribution.
- Familiarity with aerial LiDAR acquisition and processing.
- Experience managing asset classes including conductors, poles/towers, vegetation, and ground features.
- Understanding of electrical conductor and catenary modeling alongside clearance analyses.
- Working knowledge of specialized tools such as PLS-CADD, TerraSolid/TerraScan, or MicroStation.
- Exposure to utility asset modeling or mapping related to power lines.
