Merchandiser

Position Overview

This role is responsible for ensuring efficient product merchandising within high-volume retail stores such as grocery outlets. The duties include replenishing shelves, rotating inventory products, organizing displays, stocking and rotating items in coolers, maintaining orderly storage areas, and transferring stock from storage to sales floors. Interaction with store personnel is part of the daily routine.

This physically demanding position involves lifting, pushing, pulling cases weighing between 20 to 45 pounds, and requires frequent bending, reaching, and squatting. The job maintains stable start times with specific customer routes but offers potential for varied work scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

• Restock shelves, coolers, and promotional displays with assigned products.
• Rotate merchandise to maintain product freshness in storerooms and sales areas.
• Transport goods between storage and sales floor locations using appropriate equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks.
• Install promotional materials like signs and banners at store locations.
• Ensure stockrooms remain clean and well-organized.
• Report any store-related concerns to store managers and company leadership.
• Build and maintain positive customer relationships within store environments.
• Adhere strictly to operational procedures including route management and inventory scanning.
• Deliver customer service with excellent communication and attentiveness.
• Work independently with limited supervision.
• Utilize handheld technology to place and record orders accurately.
• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

Basic Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Successful completion of physical capability assessments if required.
• Access to personal transportation to travel between multiple store locations within assigned shifts.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License and current vehicle insurance documentation.

Preferred Experience

• Background in retail or grocery store operations familiar with inventory and stocking processes.
• Experience handling product movement safely using equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and dollies.
• Proficiency in merchandising tasks such as stock replenishment, display building, and organization to avoid stock shortages or expired goods.
• Inventory management in backroom or stock areas, including organizing pallets and maintaining product integrity.
• Customer service experience, handling queries, complaints, and fulfilling customer needs.

Additional Information and Terms

Use of personal vehicles for sales routes may be compensated with mileage reimbursement. The position necessitates regular fieldwork at customer locations, requiring a background check and drug screening as a condition of employment. Verification of education, prior employment, and driving records will also be conducted where relevant.
