Job description
Role Summary
The MEP Draftsman is responsible for crafting detailed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing schematics essential to the design and functionality of power plants, data center cooling systems, and smart grid projects.
Main Duties
- Produce detailed drawings for Mechanical systems including HVAC and process cooling, Electrical systems such as high and low voltage layouts and cable tray arrangements, and Plumbing systems like fire protection and water supply conduits.
- Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), wiring layouts, and equipment placement plans specific to substations and switchyards.
- Create isometric diagrams for process piping and ductwork routing to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct spatial coordination efforts to guarantee sufficient clearance for safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical apparatus.
- Work closely with engineering teams to design underground and overhead utility networks while avoiding conflicts with structural components.
Experience and Educational Requirements
- Possess a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or specialized training in MEP Drafting.
- Have 3 to 5 years of practical experience in MEP design projects within power plants, oil and gas sectors, or critical digital infrastructure facilities.
Technical Proficiency
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD (both 2D and 3D), specialized software like AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, and Navisworks for basic clash detection tasks.
Minimum education
Diploma / ITI / Vocational
